William Allan Murphy

December 10, 1946 — February 9, 2025

Stagecoach, Nevada

William Allan Murphy passed away on Sunday February 9, 2025 at the age of 78 at Renown Hospital in Reno, NV. He was born in Los Angeles, CA on December 10, 1946 to William Jesse Murphy and Jessie Christine Murphy. He was preceded in death by his Father (Bill), his mother (Chris), and his son (Dusty). Shortly after his birth, Allan’s parents moved to Henderson, NV to live near his 11 aunts and uncles. When he was 6, he welcomed a baby brother, Gary Murphy (Sue). He loved him deeply and they were very close. In his early years growing up, his fondest memories were spent in the mountains camping, hunting and fishing with his brother Gary, Mom and Dad, uncles, aunts and cousins. With such a large family, there was never a shortage of family get-togethers or people to visit. Throughout his life he reminisced about these special times often.

Allan enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1967. Upon returning home, he joined the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union - Local 525. He became a well-respected plumber and pipefitter in Las Vegas, NV known for his hard work, integrity and willingness to mentor others.

Family was always first. His life revolved around his children: Laura Murphy, East Wenatchee, WA; Aggie Potter (Allen) Waterville, WA; Angie Williams (Travis), East Wenatchee, WA; Casey Centeno (Nattalie) Henderson, NV, and Kevin Murphy (Darlene), Silver Springs, NV. He had a special bond with each one of them, always making them feel special. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and seeing them grow. He was a special person who appreciated everything and loved life!! He loved to laugh, had a great sense of humor and was always making jokes. It was important to him that his family and friends were happy, and he was always willing to help anyone who was down on their luck.

His later years were spent in Caliente, NV with his partner and best friend of 21 years, Mary Lepper, and their two “kids” Obie and Sadie. It was a special time for him, spent volunteering with friends on the Lincoln County Search and Rescue, rock hounding and exploring. He more recently became a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America VVA Chapter #388 in Carson City, NV where he found connection with brotherhood in the group.
