Alamo

Steven Howard Moonin, 76, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Wednesday, September 28th, 2022 in Rachel, Nevada. He was born July 14th, 1946 to Harry and Ethel Moonin in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Steven had a fun filled childhood growing up in New England with his sister Sarah.

Steven enlisted in the United States Army that led him to actions in the Vietnam War. He was awarded the honor of the Silver Star and a Purple Heart for his selfless actions and devotion to duty, saving five wounded men, at the risk of his own life. Two of the men would have succumb to their wounds if not for Steve’s life saving measures. This is the type of man he was.

He met his wife Inez in early 1970 and soon began a loving marriage which spanned 48 years of complete devotion. Together they raised a son Matthew and two children from her first marriage Laurel and Murray, with difficult vigilance, compassionate understanding, and unwavering love and support.

Steven completed nursing school and started his career as a Registered Nurse in 1976. His career spanned 32 years to 2008 when he retired. He continued to take care of his loving wife Inez until her passing in March of 2018.

His passing is preceded by his father Harry Moonin, mother Ethel Braverman Moonin, and his sister Sara Moonin. He is survived by his son Matthew Steven Moonin, daughter-in-law Erika, and two grandchildren, Liam and Connor.

A memorial service will be held at the Howard Hill Cemetery in Little Deer Isle, Maine, where he will be reunited and laid to rest next to his wife Inez.

Steven Howard Moonin lives on in the hearts and minds of his family and all those he has touched throughout the years.
