Richard Dee Alfano

August 16, 1937 — March 14, 2017

Richard Dee Alfano passed peacefully, March 14, 2017, in his home in Caliente, Nevada. He was born August 16, 1937 in Spokane Washington to Eugene Alfano and Florentina (Dolly) Alfano, who proceeded him in death.

Rich will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Lois Alfano, as well as his two children, Randy and Russell Alfano. Rich is also survived by his brother, Roderick of Caliente, Nevada, and sisters Judith Alfano (Hanson) of Sonora, California, and Donna Alfano (Bardine) of Pioche, Nevada. Grandpa Rich will be remembered fondly by his six grandchildren, Robert, Roston, Allyssa, Richard, Russell, and Lainey as well as two great-grandchildren, Riannah and Royce.

Richard attended college at San Jose State University. His professional life included cabinetry, carpentry, flooring, general contractor, business owner, and rancher in Cottonwood, California. During his career he built homes in Alaska and Northern California prior to building Mt. Wilson Guest Ranch in Pioche, Nevada where he operated a restaurant and hotel. The restaurant was so successful and was featured in Nevada magazine. After selling Mt. Wilson he owned a shop in Pioche, Nevada and continued home building and commercial building such as casinos, churches and schools. He was active in investing in real estate and flipping houses. Rich was one of the first building inspectors in Lincoln County and continued in both Pioche and Caliente before his retirement. Richard was passionate and meticulous at every aspect of his professional life.

Richard's interests include big game hunting all over the United States. Rich was a state champion wrestler in high school and he continued his love of all sports all of his life. He was an avid 49er fan. He loved the outdoors, wood carving, family, friends, horses, fishing, antiquing, making jerky and olives and his grandchildren.

Richard was a people person and was never at a loss for words. He loved sharing his experiences and stories with anyone that would listen. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed pulling pranks on friends. He will be sorely by his family and friends.

The family would like to thank Comfort Hospice Care for their kind and loving support.
