John S Henderson

October 27, 2951 — December 30, 2014

On the early hours of December 30 th heaven gained another generous soul. He was called up to teach angels and those who have passed before how to work hard helping others, grow seasonal beards, drink cold beers, and tear up a dance floor. John S. Henderson, born on October 27, 1951 passed away peacefully in his sleep in Pioche, Nevada. John was adopted by Thomas Fredrick Henderson Jr. and Evelyn Buffington after being born in taxi cab in Virgina. His father was in Colonel in United States Air Force was stationed all over the country and in Germany.  He was the oldest of three adopted children. A younger sister Ka and brother Tom. John did graduate high school in Dover, DE in ’70.  Later he attended Dover Tech community college where he earned an Associates in Drafting.  In 1981, John bought his first semi truck to begin is trucking career.  He began moving households then moved electronic tradeshows. He had countless hours logged, inspections passed, and million of miles under his foot.  He traveled to at least 49 states, Mexico and Canada and a few cruises. In 1987, he married and his daughter was born later that year. Around 1997, he then sold his long hauler and bought his end dump and leased it under Henderson Trucking in Las Vegas, Nevada. Around 2007, John sold his end dump, retired and moved to Pioche, as he called it “the closest to heaven as he was going to get.” John loved to have several projects started and very few finished. With that said he worked odd jobs, started Henderson Backhoe, and more recently part time seasonal for the Town of Pioche.

John had friends scattered across the country, near and far and made a new friends everywhere he went. While living in Las Vegas he enjoyed racing his own stock car, most of his life he treasured the vibrations of his Harley’s and four wheelers, loved Chevrolet’s of all models.  John loved all animals from his parrot to his mule to his dog. He was a Rolltide cheering and a southern boy at heart.  John loved a good football game or racecar event.

At the time of John’s passing he was survived by a small family and a large circle of friends: his wife India; his daughter, Jamy; his stepchildren Tiffany, Robert, Sean, and April; and his very own blue eyed grandson, Collin, and infant grandson Chevy; and brother Tom of Alabama.
