George Yates Bryson

July 25, 1944 — March 6, 2018

George Yates Bryson, age 73, passed away on March 6, 2018 in St. George, Utah. He was born on July 25, 1944 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina to George Dixon & Leah Yates Bryson. He was married to Carol Sue Logan on October 9, 1970 and together they have 6 children.

George served in the US Navy during the Vietnam and Cold Wars and retired as a Lieutenant Commander. He had a Bachelor degree in Communications from Brigham Young University and a Master’s in Education from Old Dominion University. He served as a missionary in the Brazil South Mission. Served in various callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a Committee Chair for the Boy Scouts.

George is survived by his wife Sue Bryson of Caliente, NV. His children; George Logan (Theresa) Bryson of Sterling Heights, MI, William Logan (Noele) Bryson of Okinawa, Japan, Kathryn Sue (Dale) Vaughan of Austin, TX, Jennifer Marie (Chad) Majeske of Farmington, MO, Michael Logan (Mariana) Bryson of Reno, NV and Todd Logan (Julie) Bryson of Farmington, MO. His brother Leland Yates (Jennifer) Bryson of Syracuse, UT, and sisters Bonnie Jean (Terry) Snarr of Pocatello, ID and Carolyn Rodgers of Centerville, UT. As well as 14 wonderful grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents George and Leah Bryson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 10:00 am at the Caliente LDS Ward Building (1100 South Front Street, Caliente, NV). A family viewing will be held prior to the service on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Church from 9:00-9:45 am. Interment will be in the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery (14 Veterans Way, Fernley, NV on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 1:00 pm under the direction of Southern Nevada Mortuary.
